On 8 May 2025, the 12th medtech Rhineland-Palatinate will take place in the Alte Lokhalle in Mainz under the motto ‘How medical technology is reinventing itself through impulses from design and digital technologies.’ Two highlights in the morning: Prof Dr Matthias Vette-Steinkamp with his presentation on ‘Circular design as an opportunity for sustainable medical technology’. Olaf Barski will then provide insights into the professional design development of sustainable medical devices under the title ‘Well thought-out user experience design’. The international committee of the World Design Organization WDO has decided: Frankfurt and the RheinMain region will be World Design Capital 2026!

At the WDO's annual general meeting World Design Assembly in Tokyo, Japan from 27 to 29 October 2023, the title will be ceremoniously awarded to Frankfurt RheinMain. In the first quarter of 2024, the World Design Capital Signing Ceremony will take place, at which the Host City Agreement will be officially signed. This is the starting point for the World Design Capital year 2026.

The winners of this year's "neuland" design competition have been announced! A total of 508 submissions in the categories "Architecture + Engineering", "Exhibition Design + Interior Design", "Product Design", "Communication Design" and "Interaction Design" were reviewed, discussed and evaluated by the 20-member jury consisting of architects, engineers and design experts. Olaf Barski gives an online lecture at the Offenbach Academy of Art and Design with Prof. Peter Eckart. The lecture is about the semester topic "A way out of the one-way – from single-use to reusable products". In his lecture Olaf Barski gives an insight into how his office works and how the new outdoor cutlery set "My2Go" was developed. The “to go” cutlery set was designed for the WMF Group and was launched recently.
