Design awards

Our success

Design awards are public testimony to outstanding design achievements. They are the result of a fruitful and successful interplay of all the disciplines involved. That not only applies to designers, developers and engineers, but likewise to manufacturers and distributors. Design awards mark a wonderful form of project completion and are often the start of a successful market launch.

German Design Award
The German Design Award honours innovative products and projects, their manufacturers and designers who are pioneers in the German and international design landscape. This is guaranteed by the top-class international jury. The German Design Award discovers and presents unique design trends: a competition that advances the design-oriented economy. The German Design Award is presented by the German Design Council, the German brand and design authority.

Red Dot Design Award
The international design competition "Red Dot Design Award" is organised annually by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen and is aimed at all those who wish to qualify their economic activities through design. The qualification is based on the principle of selection and presentation. Outstanding design is selected by competent expert juries in the fields of product design, communication design and design concepts. The "Red Dot" award has established itself internationally as one of the most coveted seals of quality for good design. The award-winning designs are published in the Red Dot Design Museum and the Red Dot Design Yearbook.

German Brand Award
The German Brand Institute, founded by the German Design Council and GMK Markenberatung, annually presents the German Brand Award to companies, agencies, service providers and organisations that can score with an excellent brand image. In the "Excellent Brands" category, the best product and corporate brands in an industry are honoured. The "Excellence in Brand Strategy and Creation" category honors the strongest campaigns, concepts and strategies in individual specialist disciplines.

DDC Design Award "Gute Gestaltung"
The DDC ( German Designer Club), founded in 1989, is a registered association that promotes "good design" in the German-speaking world. The competition for "Good Design", which is highly regarded in the design industry, is organized annually by the DDC and is aimed at manufacturers, designers, entrepreneurs, agencies, developers, students and young, design-oriented start-ups. It honors outstanding design in the categories Identity, Spaces, Reporting, Product, Campaign, Publishing and Interactive. "We want to spread and promote good design. We recognize the value of outstanding quality and support the people who create or commission design. That is our claim."

Design Plus
The "Design Plus" award stands for product design of consumer goods that function, are environmentally friendly, beautiful and useful. The award is a distinction awarded by an international jury of recognised experts from among all the competition entries submitted by exhibitors at the International Frankfurt Trade Fairs such as Ambiente, ISH and Light & Building, among others.

iF Design Award
Since 1954, the iF Product Design Award has been a highly respected and important international design prize, which is awarded annually by the iF International Forum Design. The iF Design Award, which is regarded worldwide as a symbol of excellent design, registers over 5,000 entries from 70 countries every year. The following disciplines are honoured: Product, Packaging, Communication, Interior Architecture, Professional Concept, Service Design and Architecture. The product categories are Automobiles / Vehicles, Sports / Outdoor / Bicycles, Leisure, Babies / Kids, Watches / Jewelry, Audio, Telecommunication, TV / Cameras, Computers, Gaming Hardware / VR, Office, Lighting, Home Furniture, Kitchen, Household / Tableware, Bathroom, Garden, Building Technology, Public / Retail, Medicine / Health, Beauty / Care, Industry / Tools, Textiles / Wall / Floor.

German Innovation Award
The German Design Council annually honors special innovations in the competition classes "Excellence in Business to Consumer" and "Excellence in Business to Business" with the German Innovation Award. The awards are given for engineering or technical services as well as services that offer genuine added value. The exchange between different industries is promoted and a new platform for suppliers and manufacturers, small and large companies is generated.

Good Design Award
The oldest and most prestigious global award ceremony for design and innovation. Since its inception, the Chicago Athenaeum has continued to organize the program to raise awareness of contemporary design and honor both products and industry leaders in design and manufacturing who have broken new ground in innovation and crossed the boundaries of competitive products in the global marketplace. Good Design® was founded in Chicago in 1950 by Edgar Kaufmann, Jr. Eero Saarinen and Charles and Ray Eames. Mort Goldsholl also created the legendary Good Design logo in 1950. Every year, the Chicago Athenaeum presents the Good Design Award for the latest innovations in industrial, product and graphic design from around the world.

Focus Open
The Focus Open is the international design prize of the state of Baden-Württemberg. The "Focus in Gold" and the "Focus in Silver" are awarded. Products that have been on the market for a maximum of two years and prototypes that are guaranteed to be ready for series production can be registered and awarded for various categories. Thanks to its non-profit character, it offers even the smallest companies the opportunity to compete internationally with their product innovations.
