Wuppertal Institut Fonte Waterfilter

Drinking Water Filter

No jumping into cold water.

In crisis regions, the supply of clean drinking water in particular is often one of the biggest civilian challenges. In remote areas, there is a lack of the necessary infrastructure to transport water to the people living there.

Fonte is developed in close cooperation with the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy and the German Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW) - the result of a pioneering design study. It is a filter unit that makes it possible to obtain drinking water even from heavily contaminated water. Product psychology plays a special role when it comes to relief supplies. Products that enable survival must be absolutely reliable and also communicate this through their design appearance

Fonte is a self-sufficient system. It is designed in such a way that it can be completely dismantled, cleaned and, if necessary, replaced in just a few steps without any basic technical knowledge. All components are maintenance-free and made of extremely robust materials to ensure a long service life.
