Interview with the German Design Council: Shaping the generational transition

The generational transition is one of the key challenges facing many design firms. In this interview with the German Design Council, we discuss how this transition was implemented at Barski Design. The merger of White Lime and Barski Design has created a new framework that combines continuity with further development. Together with Olaf Barski, we are consciously shaping the transition—with a clear division of roles, mutual trust, and the goal of positioning the firm for long-term success.

This interview isn’t just about internal processes; it also addresses a fundamental question: How can design firms actively harness change rather than merely managing it? Our answer is clear—through responsibility, openness, and the courage to evolve our structures.

We don’t see the generational shift as a risk, but as an opportunity to refine our approach and generate new momentum. For us, this means greater clarity, greater focus, and an even stronger alignment with our clients’ challenges.
